With the economy in the tank and everyone watching every penny they have it is hard to contemplate traveling somewhere for vacation. And yet, now is one of the best times to travel.  The traveling industry  is way down this year, so almost every company out there is offering discounts and incentives to draw in vacationers. You don’t have to look far to see what we are talking about.  Major airlines are all competing for your flying dollars since their numbers are off more than 5%. What that means is more available seats on planes and airlines competing to get you in one of them.

Cruise lines are also feeling the pinch as their growth screeches to a halt, even as new ships come on line and need to start booking passengers. The result is better deals to be had around the globe. All you have to do is look for them and they are there.  Many cruise lines are doing 2 for 1 specials, free upgrades and other discounts to draw in vacationers.

Hotels are also wheeling and dealing to keep rooms booked. Many have knocked off significant percentages to get people to stay with them. All it takes is looking around for the right deal and a little flexibility.

So, while the economy may not be in great shape and everyone is pinching pennies, if you are thinking about traveling this is a great year to take a great vacation.  The deals have never been better.
